Bradshaw Law

Vincent R. Ledlow Joins Bradshaw, Fowler, Proctor & Fairgrave, P.C.

October 14, 2019

Vincent R. Ledlow has joined the firm as an associate attorney in the Bradshaw Law Firm’s bankruptcy law practice area. Vincent earned his J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law and his LL.M. from The University of Connecticut School of Law.

After graduation from law school, Vincent was an associate with the Birmingham, Alabama, firm of Cabaniss, Johnston, Gardner, Dumas & O’Neal, and he subsequently followed that firm’s bankruptcy and commercial litigation practice group to the newly-formed firm of Walston, Stabler, Wells, Anderson & Baines. At both the Cabaniss and Walston firms, Vincent’s practice consisted of representing large financial institutions in bankruptcy proceedings and in commercial disputes in state and federal courts throughout Alabama.

In 1992, Vincent became judicial law clerk to the Hon. R. Clifford Fulford of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Upon Judge Fulford’s passing in 1994, Vincent returned to private practice where he represented individual and business entity debtors in cases under Chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. In addition, Vincent’s private practice included an extensive civil trial practice in the courts of his then home state.

Vincent became an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alabama in 2001. He was assigned to the state Department of Insurance where he prosecuted individuals and entities who violated Alabama’s insurance laws and regulations. Vincent served as counsel to the Department’s market conduct unit and was responsible for its complex and appellate litigation. Vincent left the Alabama Department of Insurance in 2007 after attending the University of Connecticut School of Law and completing the requirements for his LL.M. in Insurance at that institution.

Vincent’s education and experience in the field of insurance regulation and insurance company operations was put to work when he joined the legal department of a large, Wisconsin-based insurance company. While initially serving as the company’s regulatory and compliance counsel, he was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility, becoming the Director of Specialty Risks (managing the insurer’s ceded and assumed reinsurance business and assisting in the design and implementation of the company’s reinsurance coverage) and then Director of Specialty Risks and Risk Management. Vincent left Wisconsin in 2011 and returned home to Alabama where he again began representing individual and corporate debtors in bankruptcy proceedings.

In June, 2017, Vincent returned to the Midwest when he accepted a position as Assistant Commissioner for Enforcement and Bureau Chief for the Securities & Regulated Industries Bureau at the Iowa Insurance Division. Among his duties at the IID were the prosecution of violations of Iowa’s insurance laws and regulations, the supervision of up to five other attorneys who also performed this function, providing advice and counsel to executives at the Division on matters of policy, and updating significant Division policies and procedures.
